The members of the ONCOBIOME consortium met during the 10th edition of the IHMC Congress organized on June 22-25, 2024 in Rome, Italy (https://ihmc2024rome.com/). The session “A network introducing gut microbiota into oncology” was dedicated to Oncobiome with the presentations of the latest results of the project by 5 members of the consortium: Dr Lisa Derosa (IGR), Dr Arielle Elkrief (CHUM), Dr Carsten Denkert (UMR), Dr Kalijn Bol (RUMC), Dr Gianmarco Piccinno (UNITN). The session was followed by a round table with fruitful discussions about gut microbiota and oncology.
Over the years, the IHMC Congress has become a point of reference for experts in the microbiome field. In 2024, it was chaired by Prof A. Fasano and scientific sessions were organized for the three BHC-03 projects: GEMMA, MICROB-PREDICT and ONCOBIOME, and for IHMCSA, among others. Thus, the 4-days meeting allowed the consortium members to disseminate the latest results of ONCOBIOME and to discuss with the international experts in the microbiome field, such as researchers, students and companies interested in new developments on this topic.
